SUSTAINED INVESTIGATION: Strength
For my portfolio this here I wanted to explore the strength that females have, especially my friends. I combined koi fish (a symbol for strength) and poems on strength to further enforce my theme. These next 14 people have pushed me and helped me grow into the woman I am today. Their passion, inquisitiveness, drive and joy inspire me every day and I hope I have captured that in these drawings. However, after collecting these photos in which I asked them to send me a picture of themselves where they felt the most confident, I realized that most were either smiling or staring at the camera. Everyone had a brave face on-- no one was crying. We determine our strength based on how we present ourselves to the world. As long as we act like we're find and keep pushing, we're strong and can do anything. But I think there is both beauty and strength in my weakness which is why the last portrait is of myself crying. I wanted to show that even at our lowest moments we are strong, because it takes strength to release your emotions and it took strength to get through what I was getting through. I hope females are inspired by this to go out into the world with confident attitudes, unafraid to be themselves.
